The Embassy provides notary and authentication services for official documents issued by the Government of Maldives. For documents not issued by the Government of the Maldives, but which requires notarization by the Embassy must be referred to a Public Notary first for notarization before presenting it to the Embassy for services.
The applicants are required to fill a ‘Attestation Form” at the Embassy when requesting service.
At least 3 working days are required for notary and authentication services where verification is required from an external authority. The Embassy does not charge any fee for such services.
Services related to marriage registration in Maldives
If you are a Maldivian citizen who has got married abroad and you wish to register your marriage in the Maldives, you will need to contact the Family Court directly.

If a Maldivian requires the Embassy’s services to attest or authenticate, obtain documents for a marriage in China the Maldivian national may apply for notary and authentication service, as noted above.
Services related to registering a birth of Maldivian citizen
If you are a Maldivian parent of a child born in China and you wish to register your child’s birth in the Maldives, you will need to submit an application to the City/Island Council's registration platform. Ex: for registration in Male', to Male' City Council and for registration in islands, application to be submitted to the respective island council. Documents needed for this registration may vary depending on the status of the Birth Certificate obtained in China and the requirements of registering authority in Maldives.
Once Maldives Birth Certificate is obtained by the Maldivian parent, the procedures to obtain Maldivian ID card and Maldivian passports can be carried out online through the online platforms of respective Maldivian authorities. (DNR and Maldives Immigration).
