H.E. Dr. Fazeel Najeeb
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to People's Republic of China.
Biography
Dr. Fazeel Najeeb was appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to China in May 2024 at the rank of cabinet minister.
Dr. Fazeel started his public service in 1987 at the Ministry of Trade and Industries (Ministry of Economic Development since 2004) as an Assistant Project Officer. Since 1993 he acted as the chief trade negotiator while serving in the position of director in charge of trade policy and international cooperation.
In 2008 he was appointed the governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (the central bank) and the ex officio chairman of its board of directors for a term of seven years. Having served for five years of the term, he resigned as governor and went on to take up a position at Qatar Central Bank in 2014 as an Expert (Advisor) for four years.
Dr Fazeel’s first stint in foreign service came in 2017 when he was appointed the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives in September 2017. He resigned in November 2018 following a change of government after the presidential election in September/October 2018. He then moved to academia where he took up an assistant professorship at the Maldives National University, where he was also a member of the editorial board of Maldives National Journal of Research.
Dr Fazeel is also experienced in business and economic consulting, first as proprietor of his consultancy, Xebec Consulting and Research from 1997-2004, and later as Chairman of Atoll Capital Finance, a private limited liability company, from 2017-2023.
Dr Fazeel has a B.A. (Honours) degree in economics, an LL.M in International Business Law, and a PhD in commercial law, all from UK universities.

年在卡塔尔中央银行担任了四年的专家（顾问）。
法泽尔博士初次担任外交职务是在 2017 年，他于 2017 年 9 月被任命为马尔代夫外交部 国务部长。2018 年 9 月/10 月总统选举后政府更迭，他于 2018 年 11 月辞职。随后，他转
入学术界，在马尔代夫国立大学担任助理教授，同时也是《马尔代夫国家研究期刊》编委 会成员。
法泽尔博士在商业和经济咨询方面拥有丰富的经验，他曾在 1997-2004 年期间担任其咨 询公司 Xebec Consulting and Research 的经营者， 2017-2023 年期间担任私人有限责任 公司 Atoll Capital Finance 的董事长。
